After reading NatedGreat's statement, can we assume now the end of 2010 as an official goal for the BM release (in the same way it was with the "2009" in the end of the trailer)?
I'm in doubt if now I can say to the newbies "End of 2010" instead of "When it's done" or "About 7". |

Black Mesa has been in development for 5 years, if they were gonna stop I think they would have long ago. I wouldn't worry about it.

And once again our hopes of seeing the mod before the end of the year are dashed in one swoop by Ram.

Fact: the gap of time between 1998 & 2004 is six years.
Fact: the gap of time between 2004 & 2010 is six years. To keep things weirdly consistent, Black Mesa would have be released in December of this year. You can tell this to other people and they will become angry with you. |

Fact: Half-life 2 was also delayed, much to the same "OMG you betrayededed us!!!!111" reaction that Black Mesa's lack of '09 release had.

[flamesuit] I'm looking forward for a really badass mod, maybe even with an updated Portal 2 engine... So take your time! [/flamesuit] |

Okay, this probably is a really stupid idea, but does anybody else think that on the day of the mod's release, while it's downloading, all the fans who had some faith that the mod wasn't dead and would actually be finished create a video making fun of the disbelievers on youtube? Every time I go to the youtube page to watch the videos, everybody believes that the mod has to be dead because it missed the release prediction (like Half-Life!) and they don't constantly post videos/update the MODDB/Twitter page. This may sound stupid, but I actually feel that I'll be laughing my ass of at the people who don't pay attention to the mod and ignore it's existance because they think it's dead. While the few people that actually found something to do while waiting for the MOD's release get's to download the MOD almost as soon as it comes out. Everybody else won't get it for alot longer because of their lack of patience.

Oh, God, I'm stuck in a loop
Edit: Oh, a ghost page apparently. I'm not sure how they did it in HL, but is the way the tentacles recognize sound different? How do you do that in this mod? |

I would assume the same way every other enemy "hears" sound. Just some coding. Soldiers, when they don't know you're there, they're idle. Wheen they hear you move, they attack. Pretty sure it's as simple as that.
