Ok... Please don't call me stupid or dumb or anything, but I heard from LambdaGeneration on April 13'th that the BMS sound track was "released." And it also said that BMS would be released 2 WEEKS after the sound track has been "released." I checked my calendar yesterday, and I was guessing it would release tomorrow (today). Can someone clarify with me? I'm not trying to annoy anybody

Will you send the final build to Valve before releasing it to the community?
Are you obliged (or just feel obliged) to get their approval, permission for releasing Black Mesa or something like that?
What if Valve suggests porting BM to the newest Source and gives you Portal 2's "retail" SDK... Would you do it?

The sound guy has merely put up the website for the soundtrack's download in preparation for the mod release but since the mod doesn't have a release date yet, it's useless for now.

It's simple, there's still no soundtrack nor mod yet. You were misinformed.

I meant, not released like actually released. Didn't they say that once the soundtrack is FINISHED it will get released two weeks after?

No, they said they would RELEASE the soundtrack two weeks before the mod release.

In fact, the soundtrack has been essentially finished for a few months now.

Because the mod is not finished.

Are you incapable of understanding basic logic?

Anyway, I'm pretty sure you'll know when Black Mesa is released, since this sure as hell won't be a silent release. Most major gaming sites will talk about it.

Lmao.. Yeah they gonna get a few laughs about it, if you mean that by talking about it.. Releasing a Source version by now wont be any hit in the graphics department.. and seeing that the release takes this long....

What might happen is:
When enough time has passed, perhaps people will have forgotten about Black Mesa, so when it gets released they be like "Heey cool a HL mod"

You underestimate how (in)famous this mod is.

Besides, the idea always was to remake the mod to, at least, HL2 graphics standards, not to the standard of the latest and more advanced commercial engine out there.

You're obviously new to the internet or the gaming community.

The mod would've been done years ago, if the devs only wanted to update the graphics. <- Dev quote.

It's not just about updating the graphics. Also the music, voice acting, animations, level design and so on are meant to be up to date. To see how this little team, of people all around the world, manages this amount of work is astonishing.

Gaming websites know this. Even Valve knows this and has made an ad of Black Mesa on Steam some years ago. The amount of people who want to play this mod is very big. Why? Because it's Half Life

@DiePoente & @Maxey

I am aware of the the (in)fame and that it is a very big amount of work besides the actual coding and designing.
I am a big fan of the Original Half Life and obviously i am going to play the mod.
I only remembered to get here after reading on the half-life wiki today.

What i am saying is that the initial Hype is long over.
And while i am sure blogs and gaming sites are going to write about it (That's what they get paid for/with) It will not be as hyped, and many jokes will be made.

I can only talk from my own standpoint.
Personally i am going to play it when it comes out.
But i will no longer react like this to it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sXasCjUTNpE
Like i would some years ago.
