"it`s been a long time crossing the bridge of sighs".
Long time lurker, saw the mod many years ago, before the trailers, the misfires and the trollings. Witness of the developer`s dedications and patience, but also of unjustified hostility and general assholery on both sides of the boards. Might as well spread the word, now that "the event" is closing in... Long live BlackMesa. |

Ditto. I was 13. Now I'm 20. It's sort of a big deal for my lifespan.
But I never bought into the "I have been waiting for years" argument anyway. No: we haven't been waiting for years; years have passed and we've thought about how much we want BM it in between those years. We use a certain amount of our monthly, weekly or even daily time to the forums, hence thinking about how much we want to play it. It is a big difference. Technically, and honestly practically too, no one has spent "years waiting for this mod". At least, I hope so -If someone has literally spent years thinking about this mod apart from the developers, they have a big problem. Last edited by Artic Xiongmao; 15-06-12 at 21:48.. |

The only way anyone would qualify for having "waited for years" is if they literally sat in front of the computer every day, every hour, minute, and second of that day over and over again for years checking for media updates and not getting up or going out except to eat and shit.
If that was true for anyone, I don't know whether to feel bad you waited so long, or to feel bad for how incomprehensibly retarded you are |

Yeah... and that's precisely my point? If you mean it figuratively, you haven't actually been waiting for that long, so being as frustrated as some complainers are does not make sense. It's a great mod, a great game, but it's just that. Those people should get a life.

...and speaking figuratively is a perfectly acceptable thing to do. People who make that argument are basically making the (albeit unfounded) argument that because it has been such a long time and they still haven't gotten their free candy, that whoever is making that candy should be responsible and feel real bad. even though they didn't pay for it, they didn't ask for it, and the people making the candy are doing it out of the love for what they're doing, not just for you.

my point was that there's no point in pointing it's figurative, because it speaks for itself... but whatever
(point). |

I had an account on the original forums, I'm pretty sure. I started to follow the mod pretty much when it coalesced into a full project- one of my good friends told me about the project and I followed it for a while. I think I took a year or two's break from the forums (No, I didn't get banned) before coming back. It was still before they made the orange box switch, I think.
So yeah, I've followed this mod for a damn long time. Since I've started following this mod I've: - Gone through high school - Gotten a job, lost it due to the store closing - Gotten into two relationships in college so far (Surprised me too) - Bought a Playstation 3, a PSP with my own money, and bought a Wii for my mom - Gone from a FPS aficionado to an RPG junkie due to a greater appreciation of story - Attempted to make my own Source Mod (currently in a state of limbo) - Wrote, produced, directed, and starred in a TV style espionage drama currently in post production due to a similarly protracted schedule to Black Mesa - Said "fuck" approximately 12,000,000 times |

Since I've started following this mod I've: - Found that I don't even remember going to high school. - Lost a job. - Stayed in the same relationship. - Bought a Wii for my wife. - Gone from a Margarita aficionado to a gin and tonic junkie due to a greater appreciation of getting drunker faster. - Attempted to make the bed a number of times. - Wrote, produced, directed and starred in a home made porn movie. - Said "when will FF out?" approximately 12,000 times. |

Since I started following the mod I,
Went to 3 highschools, dropped out. Became a stoner. Tripped on Mush, Speed, Salvia, E and that smell of socks when they have been in your room since the 1st iteration of BM forums. Was arrested at least 20 times. Did 2 years of adult school and passed highschool. Got 5 jobs and got fired at every single one. Was betrayed by 3 close friends. Met over 9000 new people. Created 3 BM forum accounts, never under a different name. Moved 4 times. Got laid. Died. Was resurrected via internet search algorythms. MFW I don't exist. |
