The chapter is done when the testers come back and say they found nothing wrong with it. Other than that, I doubt you will get any details on where exactly they are in development. But if it helps, it is rather impossible to really say anyway... many people work on different parts of the game at the same time. At any given moment someone could be building the props for office complex while someone else is building the xen level while yet another is working with the face poser or other animations. So like I said, even if someone were going to be inclined to tell you where they are at, they would be hard pressed to give any sensible information.

What I meant was what you're currently focusing on not exactly what you're doing but I understand if the devs works pretty much independently on different things.
I'm pleased with your answer. Thanks! |

Do you really think that they would answer that?
EDIT: If they were to give an actual response, not matter what it was it would back fire for them. Scenario A they say they're working on tweaking certain levels and working on Xen and then you have 1210204 people saying that the game is about to be released. Scenario B they say they're working on placing props around maps like Inbound and Office Complex as well as texturing certain areas and then you have 1210204 people saying that they're never going to release because they're still doing things like that. Giving the community any hint as to when release could be has always backfired for them and given them more to worry about. Just leave them be. Last edited by macbowes; 03-05-10 at 15:57.. |

Too bad it affects us who have been here a while.
Edit: yes, I actually think there's a chance that they could answer that kind of question rather than "Hai guise how many percent of black mesa is finished?" Last edited by Cellander; 03-05-10 at 18:12.. |

Question 1: How many different head/face-variations are possible for male scientists, female scientist, guards and hgrunts?
Question 2: Will female scientists appear randomly, like the face-creation system choose a random face or will female scientists have only fixed positions, where they have to appear? If they have fixed positions, will you encounter some in the later game or only in the beginning? And will any of them have a more important role (the kind of scientists, who have to say some important information to Gordon) by replacing one of the male counterparts from the original? Question 3: Will there exists other human NPCs besides guards, scientists and hgrunts? |

I think that the only characters witrh fixed faces are eli and kleiner, who are the ones in the room with the twisty elevator, the computer explodes and kleiner yells "it's about to go critical!"
Other than that, i think it is completely random, so you will never see two scientists, hgrunts or guards with the same face, at least not in the same room, as for deciding between male and female, i am unsure |

When a scientist is following you, and you go to another map, then go back to the map you were on previously, will the scientist be a different face/model?
Or is the Facegen system only used to create faces, then saved as models? I'm confused as to whether is was used for the game itself, or for creating various models. |

If I remember correctly, the model will be stored with the save file, so they'll be the same.

my question is:
will BMS benefit from a multicore processor? i'm using a amd 9600 which has 4 cores at 2,3 ghz but my fps get really shitty when hl2 ep 1 and mods get busy scenes when a lot of physics reactions are happening or on bigger maps, and it's not my video card,it's an gts 250 also,if it does benefit from multicores, that means it will be using the hl2 ep2 engine,is it available for me,who only own hl2 ep1? |

Wow, you didn't even read the FAQ on the website, let alone the forums.
Good job! |

Honestly, If I had power, I'd just start giving people who don't read the FAQs brief bans. But then, I don't have much tolerance for idiocy.

But since he doesn't have Ep2, he doesn't have the OB engine. So no, felipedomaul (Cat child mauler? Cat foot mauler?), Black Mesa will not work for you until you shell out the 15 dollars for EP2.
