I had a response written for "Fuck" last night while I was drunk and pissed after reading his posts. I would like to thank who ever deleted that as I said some pretty horrible things. For those who didn't read it, it was BAD!

I imagine the chopper, tanks and apc's would not need a spot light since they have thermal imaging and night vision built into them. Also dismounted troops will have night vision in the dark areas. Knowing all of this I'd say the spotlight is pretty pointless.

Hey I just wanted to ask one question before I log out....

You said you would import the LD headcrab from HL2, but the zombies and their headcrabs look extremely HD. Was that just a render?

EDIT: Also, why did you choose not to make the marines have more realistic camouflage? Like this?

Yes, the zombies are renders. The headcrabs don't look 'extremely HD' to me though.

How is the soldiers' camouflage not realistic?

You're talking about realism in a game where resonance cascades occur and an untrained scientist runs around killing zombie aliens with gluon cannons.

For starters I would like to say, that to me the BM camo looks realistic and I fail to see why the fpsbanana version is supposed to be more realistic.

There is no reason why one shouldn't be able to ask for some realism even in a game with a fictional plot. Just because there are events in the game that couldn't happen (or perhaps just haven't happened yet ) does not make every claim on realism null and void.

Objects that are based on a real life counterparts should look and work like they do in the real world. You might be happy if the glock would be a laser gun, the shotgun would work like bazooka and the fighter planes would be replaced by flying tanks just because resonance cascades occur and an untrained scientist runs around killing zombie aliens with gluon cannons, but I'm sure most of us wouldn't be.

And just so you know, Gordon is not untrained scientist. He has been extensively trained in the Hazard Course.

FPSBanana's skins PHAIL. AFAIK (and I'm completely unsure about this), your armor should be camouflaged somehow (such as just having an extra camo-shirt over it), and camo is useless if your 'pack is completely different. Also, why would you have black-and-white camo when you're in a desert?

I think its pretty obvious why they have black and white camo. That's how it was in the HL1.

While camouflaging the vest would be realistic, it wouldn't look nearly as good in the game. Hence why it isn't camouflaged.

The HECU or any of their wearable gear have no actual real life counterpart. They are fictional as well.

I'm fairly confident that a camouflage suit has a real life counterpart.

But that's not the point. It seems, that no matter what is really asked, when the word realism is mentioned, someone always comments that it is a fictional game and implying that there is no place for any realism in the game.

But will it improve gameplay in any way? Of course not.

Because black and white camouflages are really practical

yeah, ships are obviously relevant to the subject
A little excerpt from the article:
Quote:
Dazzle did not conceal the ship but made it difficult for the enemy to estimate its speed and heading. The idea was to disrupt the visual rangefinders used for naval artillery
Quote:
Dazzle's effectiveness is not certain. The British Admiralty concluded it had no effect on submarine attacks, but proved to be a morale boost for crews. It also increased the morale of people not involved in fighting; hundreds of wonderfully coloured ships in dock was nothing ever seen before or since
And dazzle does not obviously mean it's black and white, either.
Quote:
In the UK, the British Army introduced its Camouflage Section at the end of 1916: while at sea, the marine painter Norman Wilkinson invented the concept of “dazzle painting” — a way of using stripes and disrupted lines to confuse the enemy about the speed and dimensions of a ship

You want something to do? Go outside, play football, try to do a backflip, dig a hole, eat a potato, try not to think about penguins, drink a tea...

Possibilities are endless.

Uh if you wear another camo shirt over your vest how do you reach the ammo or any other gear you are carring on that vest for that matter?

The camoflauge pattern is different but look at the body armor and their combat pants and shirts and tell me they don't bear a striking resemblence to the ones worn by the HECU in black mesa.

Edit: they have made alterations to thier body armor, so just the combat pants and combat shirt are identical.

Holy shit guys, it's called urban camo. It's real, and makes lots of sense if you're going to invade an urban setting such as, say.. a science facility.

Have you not heard of it?
