This is the build as it is with all of the temporary/SVN/development files:
This is with it exported, stripped of all that extraneous garbage (i.e. what you'd have on your hard drive):
And this is just compressed down with WinRAR (i.e. what you'd have to download):

Do we have to use WinRar or will it be a normal zip file?

Most likely a self-installer exe.

Very nice, but isn't 7z better when it comes to reducing overall size?
Or, perhaps that wouldn't work so well :?...

I'm almost certain that was just used for informational purposes.

7z is better when it comes to compressing the size.
But the only drawback is that it requires 7z to zip up (I think, been a long time since I used it), and that may cause some headache when every newb that don't read the install faq spam the forum.

EDIT: I just tested unpacking a 7z zip (Ultra compression with LZMA2) with Winrar, it worked!
So drawbacks gone! and you can make it self-extracting.

Perfect because of the shrinkability or the newbs flooding the forums?

Yes but now it will be as fast as cpu speed not bandwidth speed.

I think that the developers are much more concerned about download bandwidth usage than the little extra time each user has to wait to extract the package.

Also, in my opinion, that little extra time really doesn't matter if you have been patiently waiting for the mod to be released in the first place.

Some free installer tool like NSIS and InnoSetup both support 7-zip compression.

Yeah, I'm sure they'll have an installer, I don't think they'd just release it as a big archive.
