By that time, Gordon won't wait in the control room to see the hologram changing from offline to online. |

^ Good point there and about the outdoor fights I think that they only enlarged the maps ... because technicaly it will be the same Half-Life only with better graphics and minor tweaks with some places to make sense.

I think there's a bit more than minor tweaks.

Hmm.. Will there be an Earth holgram in BM at all?
Closely related question, I know a LOT of the maps, and dialogue script in BM is very different than Half-Life, but have you made ANY effort to preserve any of the most iconic setpieces and lines from the original? Not going out of your way saving them, just trying your best to start with it in place, then working the level to accomodate it, or even compliment it? |

"Black Mesa will reintroduce the player as Doctor Gordon Freeman, along with the original cast of memorable characters and environments seen in Half-Life." on your own wiki ... you are recreating from scratch the maps that would mean even with the high graphics better models props some parts making sense etc. it is still the Old HL ... tell me what do I not understand ... enlighten me rather than brush me off that I don't know anything.

The story will indeed be the same, but these aren't minor tweaks, but major ones. Think of it as if someone would remake an old black and white movie today, with today's standards in terms of image quality, new actors and changed scenes. It would hardly be "the same movie just with better graphics and minor tweaks". It's more like "absolutely nothing is the same as the original except for the story line".

In Half-Life 2, if you're inside a tunnel or a building or something, and you look to the outside, you see nothing but blinding white...but when you go to exit the tunnel/building/something, the white fades and you can see the outside (mimicking your eyes adjusting to the sunlight).
Will there be similar in Black Mesa? |

Well, HL2 used that trick in order to fake HDR/Bloom but since the engine now properly supports both those things, they can just do the real deal.

- "absolutely nothing is the same as the original except for the story line" sorry I'm gonna sound like a fag to you all but this line was just a slap in a face this would imply that you wouldn't even recognize the old parts which is untrue. I think that the term remake does not cover the scale at which BM is made because it isn't just recreated there are also things added that weren't there. Flame me if you want but it is my opinion ... and I never meant to say that the Devs are doing nothing or that this project is just some tweak of an engine. |

The "minor tweaks" that you are all so up about are about the maps that they won't be the same because they want to make more sense I never said that they will be low quality or just tweaks of the HL source engine rather than concentrating on the term minor tweaks read the whole sentance. My first post was just a quick sum up of the changes if you feel I was underestimating this mod then you are wrong and it was never my intention to do so.

If someone from the community answers your question(s), you should be thankful. Most of the questions that could possibly be asked about this mod were made. So, if you don't find the information you want in the wiki, FAQ, or whatever, there's a really good chance that someone in this community has the answer to your question. bttipmf |

The developers could bind hotkeys to the most frequently asked questions, and Ram would have an additional hotkey to lock threads with a randomized sarcastic comment. It would make running this place a lot easier. =P
