^ A lot of the questions you have you can probably find answers on the wiki. When a question pops up in your head, check there before asking.

Also, usually if a person answers someones question correctly, the devs won't need to respond as 99% of the time it's an answer they gave us.

Everyone was giving you the right answer, but no one was polite enough to explain. This is the explanation IIRC. Using ANY content specific to Half-Life 1 would either violate copy right laws or require people to own a copy of Half-Life to play Blackmesa. Seeing as the dev team wants neither, Blackmesa will be using its own soundtrack.

But seeing as you probably don't care about copyright laws all that much, and aren't in a position to get in trouble for breaking some, feel free to do what everyone else suggested and replace the appropriate mp3s with the HL1 originals. Someone will probably post a tutorial on it following release. If not, you could probably figure it out on your own or post a thread in help and support asking about it. I personally just trust the devs to come out with a better suited soundtrack than the original.

A lot of senior member know enough about the mod that they can answer the question appropriately for the devs and save Ram the time from coming in here and answering them himself. They're usually just paraphrasing the devs' responses to identical or similar questions.

I meant chapters. But did you already reach the Xen chapters already? How much progress do you have on these? Can you please post screenshots in the gallery after you've made considerable progress with most chapters taking place in Xen? And which monsters did you already finish? Which do you have to do still? What weapons are complete and which still need to be worked on?
In short - About how close are you to finishing Black Mesa? Or is this becoming yet another mod that goes vaporware?

They will not show Xen until after the mod has been released. The entire game is being worked on; it's not being worked on from beginning to end, rather it's all being worked on.

The mod is alive. It's almost done. It's not vaporware. Do some research before posting any more of these kinds of questions because they have all been answered hundreds of times.

iLikeTheUDK: For your information... Black Mesa has already been declared Vaporware by many people, but the fact that there has always been consistent banter with one or more of the devs on these forums has always countered those arguments for anybody who dug deeper than the outer shell.

Vaporware is something that is completely swept away, and given no further mention by it's developers or publishers, in any other way than a callback or in-passing mentioning. Black Mesa has always communicated with it's followers. It even communicated a release date at one point. But then they rushed. And broke the spirit of the game. So they backpedaled, and just about restarted completely in 2009.

They're taking their time; they don't want to rush, and I'm sure you don't want them too either, because the game just won't come out right. It's like making anything else, you do it quick and sloppy, or slow and precise.

And as to Xen, they've stuck to their guns, and not once (with the exception of one ancient and minor screenshot) shown anything about Xen. It's the one secret they are keeping from us to keep the game from becoming permanently associated with a string of screenshots that you saw on the wiki.

Just calm down and wait. It'll be done... when it's done!

Hi again

Just looked at this SS ->


and wondered.. Would it be possible to add two particle-shrinking effectors linked with the Garg's "guns"? This way they might fit the "barrel" more nicely. Intersecting geometry can take away a bit of the magic... but, on the other hand, adds a bit of "old school"

Sorry to start talking about this again, but since the release of the Orange Box, the Half-Life 1 soundtrack is included in the Source SDK.

I REALLY don't like the sound of it...Sounds WAY too much like how Duke Nukem Forever's development cycle...Although I wish the development team a lot that Black Mesa's development ends in any way but the way DNF ended.

King_Kaddo, Why? Tell me how do I know that the view is controlled by mouse, walk with WASD, to use buttons and to talk to scientists/barneys/obama - E, I can swim in water, radiation is bad, medkits is good, batteries is so good, weapons firing in the cross? HOW??

We use in-game hints like in HL2.
