Pinned Summer Update

    • Moddb posted about new Xen images on Facebook today!!!1
That they are the ones we've already seen, that's ok.. They're new!

But what made my laugh a lot was that when you click on the moddb link they linked.. It shows my fucking mod on the frontpage :D
"Sequel released!" "Now with beer!" Probably gonna fool someone..

    • I'm still more hyped for the engine update than I am for Xen itself- can't wait to start re-assembling those new giant Surface Tension maps, which won't even compile on the current release engine!

Though they didn't say anything about a detail date, but a lot of people believe that Christmas 2017 will be the best.
I hope they don't do a "holiday" release. That's the absolute worst time to release anything. Everyone goes on vacation, by that I mean the devs, and there is no one around in the forums for 7 to 10 days to fix the bugs that crop up. And that in turn delays development of a patch for the update, if needed.

They released a CU two days before Christmas a couple of years ago and it was not pretty.
Everything from broken mods causing multiple issues (to be expected) to old saves not working (AI Disable glitch) which we now know is also to be expected. Plus Windows 10 was newish at the time and the game would not launch w/out additional files from Microsoft.
Luckily developer Fr0z3nR was around to test issue, recommend fixes and give out good advice.

Might as well wait till the middle of January if they are not ready to release by mid December or before, imho.

      Edit:
On second thought, maybe the devs should release it and go on Holiday to celebrate their accomplishment and blow of steam (not Steam) . That way they'd be refreshed and ready to tackle any issues that slipped past QA

You are right, actually I also hope that Xen can be released at the beginning of December, preferably before December, the sooner the better.
Because I've seen many people in the Steam forum talking about a possibility of a "holiday" release, so I guess they want Xen as a Christmas gift, which is consistent with the wishes of the people. But for developers, it's not a good thing, indeed.
    • When the mod version was released I really enjoyed watching the livestreams by some of the developers playing while talking about development or just speed running. Usually when I play games what keeps me coming back to them and maintaining interest is being able to somehow invest time even when not playing myself and I would say having a good community of people on twitch is the superior way to do this. This almost always leads to me playing the game more. Here's to hoping we get some good streams around the time of this release as well.

Also closer to release it would be nice if "News and Developer Updates" became a section where it was actually only dev posts. Maybe have a discussion section elsewhere for updates because it's sort of a pain to see this section lit up only to find no news or updates and I'm guessing other people have been turned off from checking for updates by this as well.
    • I'll be realistic and say that they really really mean to finish it in December this year.
But there's a hunch in my mind that there will be something in the way, and it will
      probably come later.

To be honest i don't care that much. I'm now in a faze where waiting for the game to be complete is a normal thing.
Is it this December? Or the year after that? Doesn't matter, still gonna be good when it comes.
