so im trying to mess around with the settings of the game using nvidia control panel and the game allows the use of nvida’s Ambient occlusion i think it might be HBAO+. the game works well with it but when viewing the AO through particles or transparent textures the AO effect flickers on and off. what could be the cause of this seeing as the game looks so nice with it enabled.
Source was never designed to run with ambient occlusion enabled, I’ve heard of a special build of ENBseries dll that can enable software AO without using the proprietary nvidia method. Try that and see if alpha is still messed up.
the enb uses SSAO which to me is a very low quality AO and doesnt look very good. its almost worth the random flickering of the nvidia HBAO+ one.
