^Beck or The Korgis?

Interestingly, neither! “The Field” covered it, in a style closer to The Korgis.

A friend of mine was involved in a student film set to this version. The lyrics happened to be very pertinent. I think I am slowly succeeding.

It’s a good cover, mostly. I don’t like that they did away with the chorus.

Also, while most of the loops are really nice, there are a couple that become very annoying, very fast.

Slepp meg inn
Slepp meg inn
Du e et fort
Du skal bli min
Du skal bli min
Me skal bli ett
Me blir guddommelig
Eg kryper hvis du ber meg om det
Men kom an

Slukk meg for eg brenner
Slukk meg før eg tenner
Erkjenn meg
Gjør meg te någenting

If I were the moon, I’d be cool.
If I were a rule, I would bend…
If I were a good man, I’d understand the spaces between friends.

I didn’t know what you were made of,
The colour of your blood, what you’re afraid of
Are you made of calcium or are you carbon-based?
And if you’re made of calcium I’ll have to take a taste
Cause, listen, calcium is deadly tender to the tooth
And it’s one sure-fire way to know if you’re
MX-missile-proof, oh no, or if you’re just aloof

I had to listen to an album on repeat before I realized the link between Last Breath and Easy Talk, from O’Brother’s album Garden Window.

I friggin’ love albums which have running themes.

make it worthwhile.

My body is in the air
My face is pretty ugly
I see it everywhere
My-my-my mind is separated
For better and for worse
It’s living in my stomach
I’m a lipstick in a purse!

I’m not a pacifist,
So I can fuck your shit up
Oh yeah,
I’m small.
Oh yeaaah,
I’m small
Fuck you, asshole
You homophobic redneck dick
Big and tough and macho, you can kick my ass?
So fuck-ing what?
So fuck-ing what?

I’m not fucking around
I’m not fucking around
I’m not fucking around
I’m not fucking around

I’m deaf and blind, I like the feeling
It’s warm inside, too warm for breathing

Now pause your mind, and try to feel the dark
You could have tried, the nights are just too long, yeah

These thoughts profound
A midnight terror
She said Beautiful music everywhere
Beautiful music everywhere

Are you fucking around?

Come over and I’ll put my hands where I want to
And I’ll bet my scent
Is still left on you
Baby don’t pretend,
We could ever just be friends
After I have been… inside of you

That’s the night the lights went out in Georgia
That’s the night they hung an innocent man
Well, don’t trust your soul to no backwoods southern lawyer
'Cause the judge in the town’s got bloodstains on his hands

Moral sneaks in the White House
Computer geeks in the school house
Drug freaks in the crack house
We don’t have that stuff here
We have a tiny little Force
But we need them of course
For the kittens in the trees
And at night we are on our knees
As quiet as a mouse
For God is in the house

I’m losing my mind
in a record amount of time.

Is it all in my head,
these ghosts in the hallways and mirrors
and under my bed?

He’s a hero of the war
Like his dad he gave his life the war before
It was tragic how you almost died of pain when he was born
With no husband there beside you through it all
Ring the bell if you get hungry or you fall

You’re a hero of the war
Why those teardrops on your cheek? it’s so absurd
Feelin’ empty it’s the emptiness of heroes like your son
And what made him leave his mother for a gun
Driven forward driven back and nothing more
